Ricardo Blanco
Design "Rue Lepic".
For some years now, the Design and Sustainability Laboratory has been working to find new ways to combine the functionality and aesthetics of design with the fundamental parameters of sustainable development. Within the framework of the activities carried out by the Laboratory, El Espartano created the Tejiendo Tendencias project, with the support of D&D and the participation of Ricardo Blanco.
After graduating as an architect from the University of Buenos Aires (1967), Ricardo Blanco began his career at Stilka, where he was able to develop products based on unconventional technologies for the time.
Throughout all these years, he has managed to project himself internationally, positioning himself as one of the main referents of Argentine design. Blanco affirms that design must meet three basic conditions: functionality, technique and aesthetics.
“The Rue Lepic carpet was born from the conceptual proposal of recovering cobblestone streets as friendly places to sit. This idea merged with a trip I made to Paris, where walking through Montmartre I came across Rue Lepic, the street where Amélie was filmed and to which Yves Montand sang a song.” — Ricardo Blanco.
