Milan Design Week 2025 was the stage chosen to present Instinct, our new collection developed together with Japanese artist Miroco Machiko and curated by Lidewij Edelkoort. The show took place from April 7 to 13 at Galleria Rossana Orlandi and received an excellent response from the public and the specialized press. <\/p>\n\n

Throughout the week, visitors from different parts of the world toured the exhibition and came to see the seven textile pieces that make up the collection. In Edelkoort’s words, “his animal kingdom is both ecstatic and captured in movement,” and that energy was one of the keys to the connection generated with those who visited the space. <\/p>\n\n

Miroco Machiko is a self-taught Japanese artist who lives on an island in southern Japan with her cat, a goat and several sheep. Her work is born from intuition, on large papers, canvases or any material at hand. There he traces, stamps and stains the outline of animals – real or imagined – trying to capture their vital presence. “Animals dominate their life with dignity, seduce to procreate, provoke to protect and roam to find food. Their instinct is our instinct,” Edelkoort writes in the curatorial text. <\/p>\n\n

For this collection, her drawings were carefully translated into textile language by the El Espartano team through the tufting technique, using 100% natural wool yarns. Each piece was developed by hand, seeking to preserve the expressiveness of the original line and give the shapes a new tactile dimension. The result is rugs that invite you to touch them, to walk through their volumes and to inhabit this animal universe with all your senses. <\/p>\n\n

We are happy to announce that Instinct will continue to be available to visit and purchase throughout the year at Rossana Orlandi in Milan. In addition, the pieces can now be viewed in our online store. <\/p>\n\n
