Leandro Erlich in Korea

Design "Puerto de Reflexión" (Port of Reflection)

The Argentine Leandro Erlich created Port of Reflections, a striking site-specific work that recreated at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul (MMCA) a floating port where visitors could see the reflection of ships suspended in the air.

We were part of the project with our Tufting 10 carpet, which covered the sides and back of the installation, from where it was also possible to access and appreciate the work from another perspective. The carpet, a compact plush moquette made of 80% pure virgin wool and 20% nylon, was chosen for its soft materiality and high resistance to traffic, and because it provides a noticeable acoustic improvement in the environment.

With Port of Reflections, Erlich subverted everyday space, transforming it into a fantastic world of surprises and paradoxes through the juxtaposition of reality and illusion, the real and the unreal, and representation and ambiguity, thereby constructing a unique vocabulary in his contemplation of the world.
