Fairmont Rio Hotel

In collaboration with the Brazilian studio Anastassiadis Arquitetos, we designed the carpets for one of the most emblematic hotels in Rio de Janeiro: the Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana. This five-star hotel, with more than a century of history, stands next to the iconic Copacabana Beach and under the imposing presence of the Sugarloaf Mountain, evoking the glamour of the 1950s.

The designs of the carpets followed the aesthetic and material guidelines of the carioca style that inspired the project, with figures inspired by tropical nature, set against backgrounds of organic tones.

For this work, 7,000^m2 of Magna Axminster carpets were developed, made with state-of-the-art looms that allow unique flexibility for color matching, individual and precise weaving of yarns, and for capturing complex patterns with great definition.
