Ulrika Nova: A Celebration of Color at La Noche del Diseño
On October 16, as part of La Noche del Diseño 2025, the annual meeting of design, art and decoration, El Espartano opened the doors of its showroom in Distrito Arenales to present Ulrika Nova, the reversion of one of its most emblematic rugs.

The event invited visitors to celebrate color and rediscover a design that, ten years after its launch, continues to set trends. In a space designed to be explored with the eye and the senses, the original Ulrika carpet was displayed on a prominent wall, in dialogue with the new Ulrika Nova, displayed in different scales and color palettes that established a link between past and present.

The meeting was attended by José Luis Zacarías Otiñano and Roxana Punta Álvarez, creators of the piece, who accompanied the presentation and shared with the audience their enthusiasm for this new stage of Ulrika. In the words of the designers: “Ulrika has synthesis. It can be applied in different places. For me that’s what makes her a hit. She is chameleon-like,” said Otiñano. Punta Álvarez once said: “Color is joy, sensuality, dance… it’s everything to me. It’s bringing nature into homes.”

With a large gathering of design, architecture and interior design professionals, the presentation reaffirmed Ulrika’s validity as a contemporary classic and El Espartano’ s commitment to collaborative projects that combine art, design and textile craftsmanship.

Ulrika Nova incorporates a new palette of eight vibrant tones in a calm key and a combination of cut pile and bouclé textures that reinterpret the ethnic graphics of the original design. The rug is part of the evolutionary journey of El Espartano’s Design & Sustainability Lab, a space that promotes material experimentation and dialogue with creators from different disciplines.
