Turing by Requena
Guto Requena
Depicted as “one of Brazil’s fab five” in the Queer Eye series, architect and designer Guto Requena emerges as a leading figure of the new generation of architects and designers in Brazil and on the international scene. From his studio, new digital technologies, cyber culture and hybrid realities are themes that run through all his projects. From the observation of the algorithms created almost one hundred years ago by the English mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing, the architect and his team began a conceptual search to design the collection. After studying the presence of geometric patterns in nature, as in the case of ocean corals, they performed several digital simulations of overlap and scale. After numerous tests and inspired by the mathematician’s life story, they defined the sizes, patterns and colors of the rug that give life to Turing, a collection that celebrates nature, science and diversity.
